We Are Children of the Corn: Redeemed and Owned by the Redeemer

Eastertide is not simply a season of remembrance—it is a declaration of identity. Because Jesus rose, we are no longer lost, wandering seeds scattered in uncertainty. We are redeemed, gathered, planted, and secured in Him.

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold… but with the precious blood of Christ.” — 1 Peter 1:18–19 (NKJV)
“…but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.” — (ESV)

  • Redemption is not a future promise—it is a finished work.

 The Wheat That Was Given

Jesus declared:

“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.” — John 12:24 (NKJV/ESV)

This was not only teaching but also a revelation of His mission.

  • The grain – Christ
  • The falling -His sacrifice
  • The harvest – us

His death secured our redemption. His resurrection confirmed our belonging.

We are not self-owned.
We are not self-made.
We are purchased.

 A Redeemed People

To be redeemed means:

  • You are bought back, not abandoned
  • You are claimed, not overlooked
  • You are secured, not uncertain

“For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body…” — 1 Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV)
“…so glorify God in your body.” — (ESV)

The cross is the receipt. The resurrection is the proof.

Living as Owned Seed

A seed does not decide its field—the farmer does. And because we belong to Christ, our lives now grow under His care.

  • We grow where He plants us
  • We flourish under His provision
  • We bear fruit for His glory

 Reflection

  • Are you living like you belong to God—or like you still belong to your past?

Prayer

Lord,
Remind me that I am redeemed—not striving, not searching, but secured in You.
Let my life reflect the price You paid.
I am Yours.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
