Becoming Christlike

**Becoming Christlike – Respecting Others**

During this season of Lent, strive to be free of bitterness and filled with the sweet taste of mercy.

Is it possible to know and respect all people, especially those in our circles—family, friends, co-workers, and church members? It may seem daunting, but it is achievable through faith. Can we honor others even after their weaknesses have been revealed? Yes, we can. Let’s reflect on Luke 6: 27-36, where Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, do good to those who hate us, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who abuse us. But love your enemies and do good … For your God is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Becoming Christlike means learning and growing practically and spiritually by facing daily challenges. Following in Jesus’ footsteps involves growth through struggle. The Holy Spirit empowers us to achieve the impossible. We can forgive and respect those who may not respect themselves or others and love those who seem unlovable. John 3:16 reminds us that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son to a world of needy people.

Therefore, In gratitude for God’s grace and forgiveness, let us pray:

Thank You, O God our Father, for honoring us even after we have disappointed You. Thank You for treating us as noble individuals despite our disgraceful behavior in Your sight. Help us to treat others with the same respect You have shown us. Thank You, Father, for this faith—it is working miracles. Amen.
